How to Play Roullete

Roullete, French for a little wheel, is a casino game based entirely on chance. Players place bets on one or more of the numbers, groups of numbers or color combinations on a spinning Roulette wheel with either one or two zeros (depending on the American game). When the wheel stops, a small ball settles into one of the 37 or 38 compartments labeled with numbers from 1 through 36.

The first step in the game of Roullete is to purchase a chip from the dealer, called a croupier. You’ll have to specify the denomination, from $5 up to $100 or more. Normally, dealers give each player a different color chip to help distinguish between bettors. You are not allowed to share chips with other players, including spouses, at a roulette table.

Next, choose a table within your betting budget. Each roulette table carries a placard with the minimum and maximum bets that can be placed. The croupier will also explain the rules of the game to you. Each number on the roulette board has a different payout amount depending on whether it is inside or outside. Generally, outside bets pay more, while inside bets pay less.

Once you’ve deposited your chips, place them on the betting board for your chosen bets. The croupier will then spin the wheel and a marker is placed on your winning bet. Winning bets are paid out automatically. Losing bets are cleared off the table.

The roulette cylinder was invented in the 17th century by French physicist Blaise Pascal. He was trying to create a perpetual motion machine when he came up with the idea for the roulette cylinder. The game became popular in Europe in the late 1700s. Today, the American version of the game is more common. The difference is that the American roulette wheel has two green pockets, while European roulette wheels have only one. This adds an extra house edge to the game.
