The Basics of Domino

Domino is a popular family game of chance and skill. There are many different versions of domino, but they all have similar basic rules. The first step is to shuffle the domino tiles and place them face down on the table. Then, each player draws a number of dominoes from the stock (also called a boneyard). The first player to make a play is determined by the rules of the specific game. This player is referred to as the setter, the downer, or the leader and should place his tile face up in the center of the line of play.

A domino is a rectangular tile with a series of black or white spots, or pips, on its surface. These pips are usually inlaid or painted, but some sets are engraved on the face. The most common type of dominoes are rectangular and made from a material such as ivory, bone, or silver lip ocean pearl oyster shell (mother of pearl). Some dominoes are even made of wood!

When a domino is played, it must match another domino on the table in either its size or color. The matching end of the domino must be positioned next to an open end on the other domino. This arrangement of dominoes is referred to as the layout, string, or line of play. If the domino is not matched correctly, it may fall off the table or be removed by an opponent.

The arithmetic of domino is used to determine the score in scoring games, such as bergen and muggins. Blocking games, such as matador and Mexican train, are also popular, as are counting games like el doble tequila. There are even dominoes that mimic card games, such as duplicato and domino poker!

Most dominoes are joined to the line of play in one of two ways: with the line of play, lengthwise; or across the line of play, crosswise. The opening end of the domino must be a double, and a single cannot be joined to a double, but a second single can be added on top of the first to form a chain.

As a mutant with precognitive powers, Domino can use the laws of probability to shift odds in her favor; she is an expert weapons designer and martial artist. She was recruited into X-Force and fought alongside Cable, but left the team when Pete Wisdom turned it into a proactive black ops unit and she found herself possessed by an undying alien named Aentaeros who wanted to use her to control Rumekistan’s military.

She rejoined the team under a new identity and posed as a camera crew to infiltrate a facility engaged in anti-mutant research. She was able to prevent this facility from being exposed by the government’s Operation: Zero Tolerance and kill Aentaeros, thereby saving the lives of her teammates. Later, she was tasked by G.W. Bridge to investigate a medical facility that was attempting to convert mutants into cyborgs for use by the Reavers.
